We’re Tanya and Mike Clowers, the husband-and-wife team behind South Street Cookies in Williamsburg, Iowa. What started in 2019 as Tanya’s creative outlet quickly turned into a full-blown cookie business built on creativity, community, and a whole lot of butter.

Tanya is the decorator and the main voice behind the brand. With a background in photography and a lifelong love of art, she swapped her camera for a piping bag and found a new way to create. As things grew, Mike stepped in to help—first with packaging, and now as the baker of our drop cookies and the face you’ll often see at local markets.

​

Mike has a background in food service and previously worked as a kitchen manager, so while baking was new to him, it wasn’t a huge leap. He’s always loved the customer side of things—getting to know regulars and creating a welcoming environment—which makes him a perfect fit for the farmers market scene.

​

We bake everything in our home kitchen under Iowa’s Cottage Food Laws, meaning we’re a home-based bakery exempt from state licensing and inspections—but every treat is made with care.

​

We specialize in custom sugar cookies decorated with royal icing, but we also make a variety of goodies you can both order and find at our markets and events. During the summer and fall we're at the Williamsburg and Iowa City Farmers Markets, and we also pop up at local events and holiday markets throughout the year. Tanya also teaches in-person cookie decorating classes! Our home base is Fireside Winery in Marengo (we usually have a class once a month there!) but we also travel to Washington, North Liberty, Coralville, Williamsburg, and more as we’re invited. Classes cover the basics of royal icing and are great for beginners and groups. Tickets are available on Eventbrite.
